Hi all, Does anyone know what is the cause of all the spam from the announce mailing list? I'm not sure who is getting it, but I'm getting a few emails a minute sometimes, it's rather annoying ... Can someone do some magic, and make it go away please ? Cheers Joe

I can confirm that the spam to this mailing list has drastically (by at least factor 10) increased since a week ago.

Hello, didn't get any; should ask over folks; I suspect it originates from a frustrated individual which didn't found anything else smarter than spams to achieve his pity vendetta. Did you kept the original ones? tschüss. On Sat, May 18, 2019 at 8:12 AM Sara Golemon <pollita@php.net> wrote:

I have a spam folder full of them. They're not "please help me" so much as "enter this contest to win some prize". -Sara

These mails only goes to moderators of the php-announce@ list, typically RMs and the like moderates this list hence why only a handful has gotten them, each moderation mail contains the original mail and addresses to approve or reject the message.

100+ daily spam emails here also. Considering that these don't get to other mailing lists, they can get regulated probably...

Filter created with * from these lists going to spam directory now. Case solved. Apologies in advance if I miss something important on that list because this is not a list for my standards if so many spam messages can pass through. Regards.

I've did basically the same. The only relevant exception is when RMs send a mail to the announcement list, in which case they should watch their spam folder.

Can someone from systems@ please take a look at this? The last set of security releases did not make it to php-announce, because nobody approves messages to this list anymore. Nikita

Who can we add as moderators? Sascha

It's not about additional moderators, but rather that there has been so much spam, that it was infeasible to check all of it for acceptable announcements. The main problem, though, seems that the moderation mails are no longer sent (I received the last one on 2019-06-04). Christoph

When sending an email to php-announce@ .. ezmlm-store:_info:_qp_26188/ezmlm-clean:_info:_qp_26206/Old_format_or_corrupted_index._Run_ezmlm-idx!_(#5.3.0)/ezmlm-warn:_info:_qp_26212/ezmlm-warn:_info:_qp_26219/ezmlm-warn:_info:_qp_26220/did_0+0+10/ I ran ezmlm-idx, looks better now. Regarding delivery attempts to: cmbecker69@gmx.de -> failure: 212.227.17.5_failed_after_I_sent_the_message./Remote_host_said:_554-Transaction_failed/554-Reject_due_to_policy_restrictions./554_For_explanation_visit_http://postmaster.gmx.com/en/error-messages?ip=76.75.200.58&c=hd/ GMX rejects the messages from lists.php.net, possibly due to excessive spam from that IP address. Confirming that most spam got nicely reduced now. Thank you for enabling spam filters. There are now only few of those spam mails passing through but I guess reading one or two messages with pharmacy and similar content can be ignored and deleted on the mods side.
> Who can we add as moderators?
Oh, another thing. Increasing number of moderators here (on mailing lists) doesn't help in any way. Still each moderator has the same amount of emails to go through and the work load is not distributed but duplicated. If we all understand this. But hopefully the relevant emails could be approved on time anyhow. Cheers.
